Eggplant Black Beauty
Also known as aubergine, eggplants have been in cultivation for over 1500 years and feature prominently in the cooking of many cultures around the world. Black Beauty is renowned for its high yields of large 2lb fruit. Its mild and creamy flavor blends well with any dish and yet also holds its own when pairing with stronger flavours such as ginger, tomatoes, and garlic.
Seeding Instructions - Start indoors in Feb/ March and transplant into the sunny garden or outdoor containers after the last frost in May, can take up to 2 weeks to germinate. Plant seedlings into rows with 1-1.5ft between the plants. Soil should be enriched with peat, compost, and worm castings if possible.
Growing On & Harvest - Keep eggplant evenly moist. Requires staking. Fertilize with veggie food that contains calcium every 2 weeks & bone meal once a month. Harvest 70-80 days.
