Beets Detroit Dark Red
Beets are a mainstay in diets around the world, and for good reason - they are super healthful, grow under a variety of conditions, are resistant to most pests and disease, and produce a huge harvest from a small amount of seed. Detroit Dark Red is a preferred heirloom variety, valued for its incredible taste and terrific shelf life; both the greens and roots are delicious!
Seeding Instructions - Start indoors in late April or plant directly into a sunny garden in early May, beets can take up to 12 days to germinate. Plant seedlings in rows with 3" between the plants. One beet seed can produce 2-3 plants!
Growing On & Harvest - Allow beets to dry slightly between waterings. Fertilize with veggie food every two weeks and bone meal once a month. Harvest in approximately 50-60 days.
